Dear Friend,

As many of you know, Lonesome Dove Ranch is a place of healing for abused and exploited children, as well as a place of rest, resourcing, and restoration for small town pastors. The centerpiece of all that goes on at the ranch is a building we call our “dining hall”. It’s a small residential building with a 64-sq. ft. kitchen. Over the last several summers, we’ve served several hundred meals a day out of this little kitchen. The seating capacity is so small we are forced to have our meals in shifts.

Beyond food service, this building is where our staff meets every day for prayer and preparation. It’s also the location for one of the most beautiful moments of the week. We throw every kid a birthday party. Many of these kids have been in the foster system for so long and passed from home to home, they’ve missed the joy of having birthday parties. Every kid that comes to the ranch gets their own birthday party, their own cake, and of course, their own birthday presents.

Our dining hall is the epicenter of that activity. It desperately needs to be enlarged with more seating capacity and equipped with a commercial kitchen, but the cost associated with that kind of project has been out of our reach…until now. Thanks to the unexpected generous proposal of two businessmen, we have decided to try to remodel this building in time for next summer’s camps. These gentlemen have put up a $175,000 match, which means they will match every dollar given between now and January 22, 2019 (my 45th birthday) towards the remodel of the dining hall. If we meet the goal, construction will begin on January 23 or sooner.

Because we were not planning or expecting this and this seems like an impossible mountain for us to climb, we are calling this “The Miracle Campaign”. As you prayerfully plan your end-of-the-year gifts, would you consider making a generous investment into this extremely crucial piece of turning, what used to be a residential ranch, into a world-class ministry center, serving the brokenhearted and the underdog. This ranch is the place Where Healing Happens and a lot that healing happens in this building.
