Royse City, Texas – July 3, 2016 – Lonesome Dove Ranch is set to host its first summer camp for children during “The Roundup” 2016.

The short term summer camp will take place the week of July 11 – 15, 2016, and will be divided into two sessions – one for boys, and girls respectively.  Children from several counties across North Texas are expected participate.

The weeks leading up to “The Roundup” have been a flurry of preparation. In March, significant earthwork was completed on a portion of the ranch in order to provide erosion control for the future and mend the existing scars created by the heavy rains across North Texas over the past 2 years. The cabins, which were a crucial piece to enabling summer ministry to take place on the ranch were purchased late last year as a result of the successful “Christmas Miracle” campaign, and were installed earlier this spring.

“We are both excited and nervous beyond description,” said Bryan Jarrett, founder of Lonesome Dove Ranch. “There is so much to be done in a matter of days to have the campus ready for these little souls God has called us to serve.”

These additional preparations include the purchase and installation of:

  • Bunk Beds
  • Mattresses
  • Bedding
  • Equestrian Riding Gear
  • Quad Track Riding Gear
  • Life Jackets
  • Fishing Gear
  • A 9-hole Disc Golf Set
  • Septic System
  • An inflatable slide and obstacle course
  • 4 new AC Units
  • Skirting and Deck for Cabins
  • an Aeration system for the pond

And locksmith services to re-key all locks across the Ranch for added security.

Because Lonesome Dove Ranch is not yet licensed to serve food in a commercial capacity, Mercy Chefs, a non-profit organization that provides disaster relief food service, has partnered with the ranch to provide mobile kitchens, staff, and food service on site for the children and volunteers attending “The Roundup.”

Speaking further about the ministry set to happen in the coming weeks, Jarrett added: “Our volunteers are trained. Registration is full to capacity and prayer is going on now for each child. The nature of this ministry is humanly impossible, but the same God who sent His son as an answer to the curse of sin also has the capacity to heal these little ones from the consequences of someone else’s sin. And we believe He is going to do just that!”
